Disclaimer

Read this before acting on anything we publish

Most disclaimers are furniture. This one is load-bearing, because MMJ GAZETTE reports on a substance that is a medicine to some readers, a controlled substance to every government, and a subject of unfinished science to researchers. Four statements below govern every page of this site. If you remember nothing else from your visit, remember these.

1. Nothing here is medical advice

MMJ GAZETTE is a news publication, not a healthcare provider. No article, headline, quote, or summary on this site is medical advice, and reading this site does not create any kind of clinician-patient relationship. We report what researchers found, what regulators decided, and what patients and doctors say. We are not qualified to tell you, and will never attempt to tell you, whether cannabis is appropriate for you, in what form, at what dose, or alongside which of your other medications.

Never start, stop, or change any treatment on the strength of something you read here, or anywhere else on the internet, without talking to a licensed physician who knows your medical history. That sentence has no exceptions. It applies to cannabis, and it applies equally to any conventional medication you might be tempted to reduce or abandon because of a study we covered. Cannabis interacts with other drugs, affects conditions differently, and carries risks that vary from person to person. Only a clinician who knows you can weigh any of that.

If you are in a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services. If you are struggling with substance use, contact a licensed medical professional or the health authority in your jurisdiction.

2. The law depends entirely on where you are

The legal status of medical cannabis varies by jurisdiction, and so does every rule inside each program. A substance, product, condition, or possession limit that is lawful under one jurisdiction’s medical program may be entirely illegal a border away, and rules change frequently. National law and regional law can and do conflict. Our reporting on any law or program describes that jurisdiction, as of the article’s date, and nothing more. An article is never a statement that something is legal where you live, and it is never legal advice. Before acting, verify the current rules with the government authority that runs the program in your jurisdiction, or consult a lawyer licensed there. You alone are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you.

3. We do not prescribe, dispense, or sell

This publication does not prescribe or recommend cannabis, does not certify patients, does not dispense or sell cannabis or any other product, and has no commercial relationship with your treatment. We cannot help you obtain cannabis, find a certifying physician, or enroll in a program, and requests for such help will be declined. When our reporting mentions a dispensary, brand, or product, it is mentioned as news, not as a recommendation, and no mention should be read as a claim that a product is safe, effective, or legal for you.

4. The science is reported, limits included

Research on medical cannabis is active and incomplete. Many findings come from small studies, short trials, animal models, or laboratory work that may never translate to patients. We label preliminary work as preliminary, per our fact-checking policy, and we refuse miracle-cure framing on principle, per our editorial standards. But no amount of careful reporting turns an early finding into a treatment. A headline about a promising study is a report about research, not a promise about your condition.

Accuracy over time

Every article reflects the best information available on its publication date. Studies get retracted or superseded, laws get amended, programs change their rules, businesses close. We correct errors under our corrections policy, but we cannot re-report every article as the world moves. Check dates, and for anything that matters, verify against the current primary source.
