Advertise With Us
What you are buying, and what you are not
MMJ GAZETTE accepts advertising, and this page is the honest version of the media kit. Our readers are patients, caregivers, clinicians, and industry professionals who follow medical cannabis news closely: a focused audience that is genuinely hard to reach elsewhere. What we sell is space in front of that audience. What we do not sell, at any price, is the audience’s trust: no advertiser receives editorial coverage, favorable treatment, preview of stories, or protection from critical reporting. If that separation is a problem for your campaign, we are the wrong publication, and it is better for both of us to know now. Inquiries go to support@mmjgazette.com with “Advertising” in the subject line.
Formats
- Display advertising. Standard placements across the site, always visually distinct from editorial content and labeled as advertising.
- Sponsored content. Paid articles are accepted only under strict conditions: they are labeled as sponsored, clearly and persistently, at the top of the piece and in every listing; they are written or reviewed to the same accuracy bar as our own copy; and they are excluded from editorial sections. A sponsored piece that a reasonable reader could mistake for our reporting will not run, whatever it pays.
- Newsletter placements. Where available, labeled as advertising within the newsletter.
The rules for cannabis-related advertising
Advertising in this field is regulated differently in every jurisdiction, and responsibility for compliance sits primarily with the advertiser. Our own conditions, applied on top of whatever law applies to you:
- No medical claims. Advertising may not claim that cannabis or any product cures, treats, or prevents any disease or condition, may not promise therapeutic outcomes, and may not use testimonial framing to imply them. This is the same no-miracle-cure rule our editorial standards apply to our own copy, and it binds advertisers equally.
- Lawful operation. Advertisers must be lawfully operating in the jurisdictions where they do business and must hold whatever licenses that requires. We may ask for evidence.
- Jurisdictional compliance. Campaigns must comply with the advertising rules of the jurisdictions they target, including age-gating and content restrictions. We do not accept advertising directed at minors under any circumstances.
- No prohibited categories. We refuse advertising for unlicensed sellers, for products marketed to evade drug testing, for guaranteed medical certifications, and for anything we judge deceptive, unsafe, or exploitative of patients.
- Truthfulness. Factual claims in ads must be substantiated on request. “As seen in MMJ GAZETTE” and similar implied endorsements are not permitted.
We decline advertising that fails these conditions, and we remove advertising that is found to violate them after placement, without refund where the violation was concealed from us.
What advertising never buys
The full separation rules live in our editorial standards and Ownership and Funding, but the short list belongs here too: no influence over what we cover or how; no notice of upcoming stories; no right of reply beyond what fairness gives every subject; no removal of accurate coverage; no editorial links in exchange for spend. Our coverage of an advertiser’s product recall, lawsuit, or license trouble will read exactly as it would if they had never spent a cent with us.
A note on readers
Because our audience includes patients, we hold advertising here to a stricter standard than a general news site might. Readers researching treatment options are in a vulnerable position, and an ad that exploits that position damages the publication that ran it. Advertisers who respect that reality tend to do well with this audience; advertisers who see it as a targeting opportunity should look elsewhere.
Getting started
Write to support@mmjgazette.com with a description of your business, the jurisdictions you operate in, what you want to run, and your timeline. We will come back with availability, current rates, and the technical specifications. Expect us to ask compliance questions before we quote; that diligence is part of what keeps this site worth advertising in.
